The Cliff Walk Restoration Project was designed to repair undermined sections and to prevent any further erosion of the path. One such extremely undermined area was the peninsula where the Marble House Chinese Tea House currently stands. Without these repairs, a major storm could have caused further irreversible damage. Another major improvement was the replacement of the wooden bridge at Rough Point with a beautiful new structure that more resembles the historical arch stone bridge that was present at the turn of last century. A set of stairs was added at the bottom of Ledge Road to provide a better connection to Bailey’s Beach. At Rosecliff mansion, repairs were made to the concrete patio, while benches and decorative railings were added to help improve the comfort and accessibility of Cliff Walk users. In addition, where prudent, the walking area was reconstructed with either concrete or crushed blue stone, safety rails were added, and the walkway delineated with either signs and/or bronze markers. Cardi Corporation was the prime contractor for this $4.3 million contract.
